The American Publicist Dianne Phillips, who owns and manages a PR/Marketing Agency which bears her name, abruptly resigned from “Save the Bays”, where she served as director for several years. Her resignation comes on the heels of an unfolding drama which has led Prime Minister Christie and other senior members of his Government to conclude and announce that “Save the Bays”, is orchestrating a well-funded campaign of subversion to topple the Government of the Bahamas.
It is being sa id in official circles that Mrs. Phillips, as an American citizen serving as a Director of “Save the Bays”, will face some serious grilling as to how the organization was funded and how monies were moved out of the US and into other jurisdictions.
Informed sources say she has already indicated to the authorities “a strong and vibrant willingness to co-operate with the official Interpol investigation”.
Further The Bahamas Government has alleged that millions of dollars have been pumped into the political war chest of the Opposition Free National Movement and several Bahamian and foreign personalities who work for “Save the Bays” and been pa id mind blowing salaries to perform tasks and duties which are not associated with the conservation of the Environment as Louis Bacon and “Save the Bays” have been propagating.
As a non-profit foundation, “Save the Bays” is also being referred to the relevant US authorities to be investigated for channeling millions of dollars to bank accounts outs ide the USA in furtherance of the Government’s allegation of subversion and alleged criminal conduct.
Mrs. Phillips holds the PR/Marketing account for The Bank of the Bahamas of which the Government is a major shareholder.
It is also alleged that her firm has crafted hundreds of anti- Government attack advertisements for “Save the Bays” in the print and electronic media.
The issue hit home on Thursday 10th March 2016 when The Tribune newspaper reported that Canadian Fashion Merchandiser, Peter Nygard, had hired “two hit men” to harrass, intim idate, hurt, harm and kill several officials of Save the Bays. Nygard and Bacon have been locked in a bitter land dispute for some time although Nygard claims that Bacon had orchestrated and led a campaign designed to coopt his beloved Nygard Cay and to kick him out of The Bahamas. Bacon has responded by saying that Nygard’s effort to expose that campaign amounts to a smear campaign. The dispute has drawn news coverage all over the globe.
The Tribune story began to show cracks last week when it was revealed that Senator Michael Pintard, National Chairman of the FNM, was involved in recruiting the two so-called hitmen, and held several meetings with them in and outs ide The Bahamas where enormous sums of monies totaling as much as $3million, being paid for the two “hitmen” to craft fabricated statements and affidavits to implicate Peter Nygard in court proceedings both in The Bahamas and the USA.
The “Hitmen” were also in meetings reportedly with Senator Pintard and former FNM Senator John Bostwick who was convicted of possession of ammunition in the Magistrate’s Court in December 2015.
This issue is the subject of a heated debate in the Parliament of The Bahamas with strong ev idence having already been tabled.
